Jon Jones surrendered his UFC light heavyweight title to fight for UFC world heavyweight championship. Daniel Cormier former 2 division UFC champion predicted that his long time rival will fail to caputure the belt.


Cormier gave his on the "DC&RC" podcast UFC prediction for 2022 and said Jones would get back to action however miss the mark against the top contenders in the division. DC said “I believe that Jon Jones will fight at heavyweight, and he’ll fight for the belt, but he’ll lose to Ciryl Gane or Francis Ngannou, And I just think that the time away, with the weight difference, and those guys being who they are, that’s the problem."


"It’s not that Jones has gotten worse – it’s just that these guys are a different level of heavyweight."


Undisputed champ Ngannou and interim champion Gane are set for a title unifier in the main event of UFC 270 on January 22 in Anaheim, Calif. Jones was initially fixed as the No. 1 competitor in the wake of surrendering the light heavyweight title in the midst of an agreement spat with the UFC over a potential superfight with Ngannou. However, he lost his spot when the UFC recoiled from his financial demands and continued on to heavyweight vets Derrick Lewis and Gane, who battled this previous year for the interval title.


Gane won the interim tittle battle to set up the unifier with Ngannou, his previous preparing accomplice. Jones, in the mean time, was arranged for a potential battle against ex-champ Stipe Miocic.
